Crusher Selection Guide: Which Crusher is Suitable for Different Stones
In sand and aggregate production, mineral mining, construction waste recycling and infrastructure projects, many customers are confused about how to choose the right crusher for different materials. Improper crusher selection will cause blockage, severe wear, low output, unqualified finished grain size and high operating cost.
1. Select Crusher According to Material Hardness
1)High-hardness stone: granite, basalt, pebble, iron ore, quartz stone
Recommended: Jaw Crusher + Cone Crusher Adopts extrusion crushing principle with strong crushing force and low wear. It is the best choice for hard rock mining. Impact crushers and hammer crushers are not suitable for hard materials due to quick wearing parts loss.
2)Medium & low-hardness stone: limestone, bluestone, coal gangue, concrete, construction waste
Recommended: Impact Crusher, Hammer Crusher Impact crushing produces well-shaped cubic aggregates with fewer flaky particles, ideal for road and concrete batching plant materials.
3)Sticky and wet materials: clay, muddy stone
Recommended: Jaw Crusher Avoid impact crushers and fine crushers to prevent material blocking.

2. Select Crusher According to Feeding Size
1)Large feeding size (over 400mm): Jaw Crusher for primary coarse crushing.
2)Medium feeding size (100–400mm): Cone Crusher / Heavy Hammer Crusher for secondary crushing.
3)Small feeding size (below 100mm): Impact Crusher / VSI Sand Maker for fine crushing.
3. Select Crusher According to Production Capacity
1)Small production line (5–50t/h): Mini Jaw Crusher, Single-stage Hammer Crusher.
2)Medium production line (50–200t/h): Jaw Crusher + Impact / Cone Crusher.
3)Large production line (over 200t/h): Heavy-duty Jaw Crusher + Multi-cylinder Cone Crusher + VSI Sand Making Machine.
4. Select Crusher According to Finished Particle Requirements
1)High-quality cubic aggregate: Impact Crusher or Cone Crusher.
2)Coarse crushing only: Ordinary Jaw Crusher is sufficient.
3)Manufactured sand (0–5mm): Equip with VSI sand making machine for shaping and fine crushing.
5. Select Crusher According to Working Conditions
1)Fixed plant long-term production: Fixed crushing production line with stable output.
2)Frequent site relocation & construction waste processing: Wheel / Crawler Mobile Crushing Station, no foundation required, flexible transfer.
Conclusion
The scientific crusher selection rule is clear: hard rock uses jaw + cone crusher, soft rock uses impact or hammer crusher, large raw material uses jaw crusher, high-quality aggregate needs shaping equipment, and movable projects choose mobile crushing plant. Reasonable matching according to actual working conditions ensures stable operation and low production cost.
